TEO Musical Instrument Repair is owned and operated by luthier Jovan Salacanin. As a second-generation musical instrument maker, Jovan began his craftsman journey in Serbia. At a young age, he started working and learning in his father’s workshop. Seeking more knowledge, he studied how to make and repair stringed musical instruments. Jovan graduated with a degree at Belgrade College in Musical instruments-making with the subject “Soundboard of the Classical Guitar”.
Since 1992, Jovan has worked on thousands of instruments, doing repairs or complete restorations of guitars (classic, acoustic, electric), bass guitars, violins, violas, cellos, double basses, mandolins, mandolas, lutes, balalaikas, and various traditional instruments, specializing in Tambura (Balkan) orchestra instruments (prim, bass-prim, contra, tambura-cello, tambura-bass), gusle, sargija.
After moving to Canada, Jovan joined the luthier team at Remeniy’s House of Music in Toronto. There, he performed various repairs and services on string instruments, including minor and major repairs, setups, maintenance, touch-ups, etc. As the only guitar luthier in the shop, he also had the opportunity to work with a wide range of instruments, including many vintage and high-end guitars.
Being skilled in every aspect of instrument-making, from raw wood to the finished product, Jovan decided to open his shop in London, Ontario.
In addition to his private practice, Jovan joined London Guitars as the main luthier in their repair service department, helping bring to life numerous vintage instruments.
